Off Into the Sunset
Wolf 870F walks off into the sunset, near Junction Butte, in Yellowstone National Park. The former alpha female has lost her pups and her pack, she is weak, thin and injured ... many fear she won't survive long on her own. Captured with a Canon 7D II and 400/2.8L IS II in aperture priority mode with an exposure bias of + 2/3 at ISO800, f/2.8, and 1/125th of a second. The camera was resting on a bean bag.

on January 8, 2015Lost by force, is my understanding, also took over her sisters pack after her death, if I recall, and lost that pack once too. I'm no wolf expert, just photograph them frequently.

on January 8, 2015Oh, I didn't know she was an alpha that lost her pups. Nice job, Dave!
